St. Christopher's Episcopal Church

Spiritual Formation

The Mission of the Spiritual Formation Ministries is to deepen the experience of and encounter with Christ in the souls, spirits, hearts, minds and bodies of our parishioner and all others.

To this end, a weekly contemplative service of the Holy Eucharist is offered, which includes a 20-minute period of silent (centering) prayer. This is followed by the Contemplative Journey Class, which studies, discusses, and explores the writings of mystics, poets, theologians, and other spiritual masters down through the centuries.

Periodic services of Contemplative Evening Prayer are offered, as well as Celtic Evensong and Communion services, which feature periods of silence, meditation, and reflection along with the beautiful prayers and liturgies of the Celtic Tradition.

Finally, a weekly service of Morning Prayer is offered, which includes the Ignatian Examen Prayer within this office. This is followed by a lectionary-based Bible Study.
